I am appalled that our politicians have blocked a bill to give first aid training to children in schools (see link http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/tory-mps-block-bill-to-give-first-aid-training-to-children-by-talking-until-time-runs-out-a6742251.html)
Worst of all this bill was blocked due to a filibuster lasting 50 minutes according to the independent that is described as sounding like someone reading a telephone book aloud. This is just appalling behaviour and yet more evidence as to how out of touch and short minded our politicians are.
Yes the skill this politician may have been taught may have been forgotten, but to leave it to chance that a passer by may or may not have ANY experience in how to help their fellow man is just nonsense.
Now you may call this a knee jerk reaction but I think it is essential that our school children are given the chance to learn this skill so that on the off chance in the future someone collapses, or has a heart attack in front of them they are empowered to at least try and help rather than stand by feeling helpless.
SO! TO ALL SCHOOLS IN THE MARKET HARBOROUGH AREA - Resus Andy will happily do a free basic life support session for your students to show what an essential life skill it is!
